Sexual disorders refer to problems that occur during any phase of the cycle of sexual response which do not allow the couple to experience the required amount of satisfaction. The four cycles of sexual response are as follows:

  1. Excitement
  2. Plateau
  3. Orgasm
  4. Resolution

Usually, sexual disorders in men can be caused due to psychological problems like anxiety or stress which is related to work, depression and marital problems. It could also be caused by physical problems like alcoholism, diabetes, neurological disorder and chronic diseases like kidney and liver failure, etc.

The most common sexual disorders in men are premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction.

Premature Ejaculation-

Premature Ejaculation is uncontrolled orgasms which occur either before or not long after sexual activity. It occurs due to insignificant sexual stimulation. Premature ejaculation occurs even before the individual wishes. It is a standout amongst the most well-known types of male sexual dysfunction. It is possible that premature ejaculation occurs if the partner is new. Sometimes, psychological factors such as guilt, anxiety or depression can also prove to be a factor. It can also be associated with medical issues such as injury, hormonal problems or side effects of medicines.

Erectile Dysfunction-

Erectile dysfunction is a serious problem that is faced by many men around the world. Some of the common symptoms a patient suffering from Erectile Dysfunction faces are, difficulty in achieving an erection and inability to perform in bed as the person ejaculates way before orgasm and is not able to maintain the erection.

Most Common Causes of Male Sexual Problems-

Sexual dysfunction in men can be a result of a physical or psychological problem:

Physical Causes: Many physical and medical conditions can cause problems with sexual function. These conditions include diabetes, heart and vascular (blood vessel) disease, neurological disorders, hormonal imbalances, chronic diseases such as kidney or liver failure, and alcoholism and drug abuse. In addition, the side effects of certain medications, including some antidepressant drugs, can affect sexual desire and function.

Psychological Causes: These include work-related stress and anxiety, concern about sexual performance, marital or relationship problems, depression, feelings of guilt, and the effects of a past sexual trauma
